The Role
This is a senior opportunity for an experienced transportation and distribution professional to manage the end-to-end movement of finished goods and returnable assets between production facilities, warehouses, distribution centers, and customers. The role will balance service levels, transportation costs, capacity, and safety while driving continuous improvement across the distribution network

Description
- Take ownership of the daily movement of finished goods between the plant, distribution centers, warehouses, and customer locations
- Build practical delivery plans that balance customer requirements, vehicle availability, production schedules, and transportation costs
- Improve route structures and delivery planning to increase fleet productivity and make better use of available transport capacity
- Work closely with commercial and warehouse teams to resolve delivery exceptions and maintain strong service levels
- Oversee the handling and recovery of reusable transport assets and improve their utilization across the network
- Review transportation spending and identify opportunities to lower cost without compromising delivery performance
- Work with procurement on freight benchmarking, cost modelling, rate reviews, and commercial negotiations
- Manage external logistics providers and assess their performance through delivery, cost, safety, and service indicators
- Lead regular performance reviews with transport partners and ensure agreed improvement actions are followed through
- Introduce initiatives to improve load utilization, route efficiency, backhauling, and overall cost-to-serve
- Ensure transport operations are conducted in accordance with safety policies, legal requirements, and required documentation
- Use TMS and operational data to identify trends, highlight performance gaps, and support management decisions
- Work with supply chain functions to anticipate future transportation capacity requirements and address potential bottlenecks
- Lead root-cause reviews for recurring delivery issues and implement sustainable corrective actions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
- At least 7 years of experience in transportation, distribution, or logistics management, ideally within FMCG
- Strong practical understanding of fleet operations, transport planning, distribution networks, and freight costing
- Experience using TMS or similar logistics systems to monitor and improve transportation performance
- Proven experience managing 3PLs, carriers, service agreements, and supplier performance
- Strong commercial understanding with the ability to evaluate transport costs and identify efficiency opportunities
- Good knowledge of delivery KPIs such as OTIF, lead time, utilization, damage, and transport cost
- Ability to use data to identify operational issues and turn analysis into practical improvement actions
- Experience working across warehouse, planning, sales, procurement, and customer-facing teams
- Strong awareness of transportation safety, compliance, and risk management
- Customer-focused with strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Good command of English, both written and spoken
