General Manager at a New Electric Vehicle (EV) Automotive Brand in Laos

The Role

The General Manager will assume full responsibility for launching, managing, and expanding the EV automotive business in the Laos market.This role will lead commercial strategy, sales, marketing, dealer network development, aftersales operations, and government relations, while managing full profit & loss accountability. The position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and hands‑on execution to build a sustainable and profitable EV business

The organization is a newly established Electric Vehicle (EV) automotive brand backed by an international group with strong capabilities in EV technology, manufacturing, and regional distribution. The company is entering the Laos market with a long‑term vision to deliver innovative, sustainable, and affordable mobility solutions, while developing a strong local dealer and service ecosystem

Job Description

  • Develop and execute country business plans aligned with regional and group strategy
  • Lead market entry strategy, brand positioning, and long‑term growth plan
  • Drive revenue, profitability, and market share growth with full P&L ownership
  • Analyze market trends, competition, consumer behavior, and regulatory landscape
  • Establish nationwide sales strategy including retail, dealer, fleet, and B2B channels
  • Develop, appoint, and manage dealer and distributor networks across Laos
  • Oversee pricing strategies, promotions, and go‑to‑market execution
  • Drive brand awareness, marketing communication, and customer acquisition
  • Set up dealership standards, performance KPIs, and operating guidelines
  • Develop aftersales infrastructure including service centers, spare parts, warranty, and customer experience
  • Ensure service quality, customer satisfaction, and long‑term brand loyalty
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government authorities and regulators
  • Ensure compliance with local laws, automotive regulations, and EV‑related policies
  • Represent the company in industry forums, public events, and strategic partnerships
  • Build, lead, and develop high‑performing local management and operational teams
  • Assign, supervise, and evaluate team performance against agreed KPIs
  • Establish effective internal processes, SOPs, and reporting systems
  • Create a performance‑driven, ethical, and collaborative work culture
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and business performance reports
  • Control operating costs and ensure efficient resource utilization
  • Ensure strong governance, risk control, and internal compliance
  • Internal Coordination: Sales, marketing, aftersales, finance, supply chain, HR, regional HQ
  • External Coordination: Dealers, government bodies, suppliers, partners, service providers

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Engineering, Marketing, or related field
  • MBA or equivalent qualification is an advantage
  • Minimum 12–15 years of working experience, preferably in automotive, EV, FMCG, or large‑scale consumer businesses
  • At least 5 years in a senior leadership role (General Manager, Country Manager, Business Head, Commercial Director)
  • Proven experience in market entry, business setup, or emerging market expansion
  • Strong commercial, financial, and strategic leadership capabilities
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Self‑driven, results‑oriented, and capable of managing ambiguity
  • Good written and spoken English
